That title was my status update on facebook a little after 6am Saturday morning. Considering that I went to the midnight show of "Hunger Games" the night before and worked a full day, I wouldn't have expected to be up playing so late. But, I love poker.
I had beer and cigarettes for the first time in 2012. I had a friend in town and other friends over. We played a sng and I won. Then, we played .25/.50. Went up a decent amount, then was down 120, ended up 12. Most fun I've had in awhile.

NFL Draft - Early Notes
We're about a month out from the draft. Like with seemingly everything else other than work and the NBA, I don't seem to have spent as much time this year on the draft. Here's a few random thoughts:
-I like Brandon Weeden. I think he could be this year's Andy Dalton. He's very accurate and he's smart. He's not as athletic as Luck or Griffin, but I think he can succeed in the right situation. Unfortunately for him, I'm not sure if that situation is out there for him.
-Stephen Hill intrigues me. Usually, I love the combine but try to ignore most of the happenings there. I prefer to go off of what I've seen on the field. I don't remember him ever standing out when I watched GT last year. I'm sure he did, but I focus so much on their running game when I watch them. We'll see.
-I'm very interested in the Rams' draft. I'd like to see them be successful for whatever reason. Last year was a disappointment. Who will they get here and in the next couple years? I'm down to find out. Someone remind me in 2015 to write a post evaluating the Luck deal.
-I like looking for the next RB who people are underrating. I'll see a guy in college and just think that he'll be a good pro. Then, come draft time he'll be downgraded for some reason. The two examples that stand out in my mind are: (a) Earnest Graham, who finally did do well when he got a real chance, and (b) Ryan Mathews who flew up draft boards and hasn't lived up to expectations yet. This year, I think Bernard Pierce has a chance to be effective, but I'm not sure he has the explosiveness. Obviously, Trent Richardson is a beast physically. The guy, however, that I think is currently being underrated is LaMichael James out of Oregon. It probably says something about me being a square that I'm picking a guy who was a Heisman frontrunner going into the year, but so be it.
-I hope Michael Floyd lives up to his potential.
-I was not alone last year in saying that Morris Claiborne was the better CB over the honey badger. That's reflected in Claiborne being a probable top 5 pick. We'll have to see if Mathieu can continue his defensive play, his highlight returns, and stay healthy.
-Not one front seven D player I feel compelled to comment on. Hmmm.
Ok, cya.

Trade Deadline
Well, I wrote about the Wizards less than 24 hours ago. Today, they've traded two pieces and gotten a big one back.
There are all kinds of platitudes you hear about trade evaluation, but one common one is that whoever got the best player got the best of the trade. If that's true, the Wizards won this deal. They give up McGee and Young and get Nene. Nene is not "a real dude" like I mentioned the Wiz needing, but he's closer than I thought they could get. I think he'll help on both ends if he can stay on the court.
Denver gets McGee, who should benefit from playing for Karl. He seems to be a fit in that system, because he can run. I just wonder if Karl is overestimating his ability to teach McGee basketball. I also wonder why they were so quick to jettison Nene after re-signing him in the offseason. Maybe they're coming around to Cuban's point of view that assets will be valued differently in the next couple of years, and wanted some flexibility.
The Clippers, however, is the team that I think "wins" this deal, even though they were used mostly just to make it work as an afterthought. I mentioned in my post that Nick Young has the enviable skill of being able to create his own shot. He can make space. The Clips have needed that skill since including Gordon in the CP deal. Apparently, Young is going home as well. If only VDN wasn't there, I would think this move would make them a contender.
In other trades, I don't see much that matters this year. The Rockets and Lakers both make a couple moves, but I'm not sure either will be able to put enough together in the playoffs.
Let me know your thoughts.

The Wiz
I don't watch the Washington Wizards too often. So, I didn't know that much about them.
Well, I feel like I know a lot more now. They suck. They're a hot mess. There's exactly one player on that team that I would want. And, it's not Turiaf.
John Wall needs to be on the US Olympic team, so that I can see what he looks like with other real players. I said a couple weeks ago that he wasn't figuring out the league as quickly as I thought he would, but really he looks like he gets it and just doesn't have a supporting cast. He will not actually be on the Olympic team, so how does WAS get him some players?
I do not have a good answer to that question, so I obviously have a lot to learn about the cap, the way free agency works, trades, and other minutiae before applying for GM jobs.
Nick Young can create his own shot, which is a valuable skill in the NBA. I don't know if he was just feeling it last night, or he's always this way, but he relied on that skill a little much last night.
Someone tweeted during the game that Blatche was giving the Mavs trouble, as always. He's not a player that gives most team trouble, so that's concerning. If I was in WAS, I would want him starting over McGee.
Speaking of McGee, he sure is athletic. That's the first thing you always hear about him, but it's also about the only thing there is to say about him. I did learn last night that he went to UNR, which I guess I had forgotten.
Trevor Booker made waves at Clemson a couple years ago and Singleton was a sick defensive player at FSU last year, and both started last night. Yet, the WAS defense was awful. I'd love to see this same team play for Thibs or Carlisle to see how they look.
Jan Vesely is best known for mugging with his tall girl after being picked in the draft last year. Last night, he looked lost. Seriously. Like, continually looking around to see if he could figure out what he should be doing and/or if anyone was noticiing he had no idea.
Jordan Crawford looked pretty good at times.
Ok, so Blatche is good, Crawford is good, Young is good, and Wall is great. I don't know. Maybe they'll spend this offseason figuring it out. I think, however, that they've got to get a real dude. I don't see that happening. We'll see.

Rebuy Tourney
My 3rd cash in 3 tourneys, 4th. Can't complain.
I meant to tweet more hands, obviously. But, there really weren't any hands of note. Seriously, like none. I picked a couple good spots to apply pressure. When we got to the final table, the blinds were crazy high and I broomcorned down to the money. I pushed a couple times, then finally got my lucky hand, Qd9d, and ran up against AJo. IGHN.

Downswing.
Good couple weeks, bad last weekend. Great Tuesday, horrible Wednesday and Thursday. Going to play some poker today and watch some college bball tomorrow and forget about the NBA for a couple days.
Good content on tap this weekend. I promise.

Busy (Again)
I need about three hours to sit and digest all of the awesome info from the ssac. Then, another three to write up a blog post. Unfortunately, I don't see having a spare hour this week that I'll choose to use for this purpose. So, instead I'll bullshit you a little a few times this week and hope to catch up this weekend and next week (Spring Break).
Tonight's Maverick loss was a tough one. I have high hopes for tomorrow night. Tyson gets his ring. Linsanity goes off. And, hopefully, the Mavs get a big win before a night off (then their b2b2b for the year).
Holla at me, dawg.
