Blog philosophy.

Writing a blog is a self-aggrandizing venture.  I enjoy writing, and the blog often makes me think/analyze things I may not have otherwise.  But, I have no real interest in the whole self promotion thing.  I think I have a better understanding of sports/poker than the majority of the people getting paid to talk about sports/poker.  I don't, however, think publishing my thoughts will lead to getting paid to do so.  I'm doing this blog for myself, then.

The blogs and twitter feeds that I go to add value to me.   As many have said, I don't really need to know when someone is going to the grocery store.  I want to know the numbers behind why you're projecting someone to fit in a new system well when others aren't seeing it.

These two points conflict, however.  If I'm writing this blog for me, I don't really need to care about what my potential readers may find valuable.

So, as of today, I'm going to stop worrying about waiting to post until I have an idea and/or the time to write thoughtfully.  The good news is that while this probably won't help me grow the blog, it would be almost impossible to shrink it.
